Here’s a list of presentations and workshops about heirloom apples led by John Bunker, unless otherwise specified. Many of these talks are on zoom and are open to anyone who registers. Please check back for updates throughout the year to see if there is an apple talk, walk, or tasting in a town near you. Many of them are opportunities to bring your old mystery varieties to John Bunker for identification. Additional events may be posted on mofga.org and fedcoseeds.com.

Sept 20-22, Unity, ME: Common Ground Fair. Sean Turley and John Bunker will be hosting apple tastings at the Hay Loft Tent on Friday and Saturdays afternoons. Dave Fulton will be hosting a cider tasting event at the Hay loft Tent on Sunday afternoon. Stop by the Hay Loft Tent every day to see the HUGE apple display, talk apples with a bunch of apple geeks, or get your apples identified (bring pictures of the trees as well as 6-10 apples from the tree).

Oct 16, 1-2:30 PM, University of Idaho 2024-25 Heritage Orchard Conference. Apple Identification 101 by John Bunker. This is the first presentation of the webinar series presented by the University of Idaho Sandpoint Organic Agriculture Center. There will be seven free monthly webinars running from October 2024 through April 2025 on the third Wednesday of each month. This year’s webinar series will cover a variety of subjects pertaining to the identification, cultivation and preservation of heritage fruit varieties. Oct 18, Northumberland, NH. Lost Nation Orchard/Heartsong Farm Wellness Center, 859 Lost Nation Road. John Bunker will give an all-day workshop. Topics will include apple identification, recommendations for varieties to grow, fruit exploring and more. This workshop is part of the Holistic Orchard Apprentice class series.
