Bunk’s black fly repelling dress shirt won’t be white for long. It already has tree cote on it from topworking today.

TODAY IN THE ORCHARD

Today was mild early, then warm, and then cool. Bunk completed the topworking. Mostly it was old favorites being topworked for back-ups with a few “new” cultivars here and there. He also cleared brush that will be chipped later this week when we do our huge annual chipping.  Today was the first day this season that the black flies were pesky, and Bunk wore his signature “white dress “shirt. He purchases these shirts at second-hand stores because the light color (supposedly) is not attractive to black flies. The shirts don’t stay white for long. (See photo. Note graft in the background.)

Cammy continues to work in the big veggie garden. It looks great! Marc has a new employee here for the season, Marissa, who is currently staying in Alsop’s cabin until a long-term housing solution is found.
