wilton widen #4
Wilton Widen #4 is one of the old trees at the Widen Farm in Wilton, ME. Long ago it may have been the farm of John Tufts, originator of the lost Sarah apple. I first visited the small, hillside orchard in 2018. Tree #4 was almost completely covered in vines. I thought the tree had died, but then when visiting the orchard a few years later, I spotted a few live shoots. Although I don’t know the identity and have never even seen fruit, I suspect it is a very old and historic cultivar. Our scionwood comes from behind the vines. Currently growing at Super Chilly Farm.
